I’d like to introduce myself to you

I am Rev. Ronna Sharegan and my experience with Spiritual Companioning, sometimes called Spiritual Direction, began after my own life experience left me feeling like I didn’t know what spiritual meant to me anymore.

My journey began in a Christian fundamentalist church and after years of knowing that wasn’t the right fit for me, I left and began exploring other practices and religions. This was a confusing and lonely journey for me since I didn’t know anyone who was experiencing the deep desire to connect with the sacred but without the framework of religious organizations.

Finding my own Spiritual Companion gave me a sense of community and a relationship with someone who could be part of my spiritual journey while encouraging me to explore, to expand and to engage in a purpose driven spiritual life that was authentic to what I believed. Unboxing my spirituality meant leaving behind much of the Christian Church theology but not my desire to seek and know something sacred in my life. My box of spirituality reflects a non-dual spirituality, a deep connection to the earth and all her sacredness and a wisdom that comes from my own experience of the sacred.

Why Spirituality Unboxed?

When trying to describe what a Spiritual Companion is I find this analogy simplifies it. We all have a box of spiritual experiences, religious ideas or trauma, and even names and ideas of what the sacred is throughout our lifetimes. Spiritual companioning is about exploring together what is in that box and what gives us meaning and a sense of connection to the sacred.

Is it connection through nature? Is it attending church and the community we find there? Is it recognizing the deeply moving experience way we experience awe and wonder and beauty? It’s exciting to look inside that box and see what’s there. It can also be scary or overwhelming and carry grief or pain. That’s where I come in - to share your journey, whatever it may be.

Credentials

I am an ordained inter-spiritual Minister affiliated with One Spirit Seminary and a certified Spiritual Companion also through one Spirit Seminary and through the governing organization - Spiritual Directors International. My religion of origin is Christianity however my own experience of the sacred has moved beyond that single experience of the sacred. My training in interspiritual ministry allows me to work with clients from all different faith traditions.

My Philosophy - Spirituality Unboxed

My practice as a Spiritual Companion is founded on the belief that we are not broken and we have everything we need to explore and honour our unique spiritual journey and unboxing that spiritualty in our own time and in our on way. I see myself as a coach helping individuals unpack what is good and useful to them in their relationship with the sacred- however that looks and to respectfully let go of the things that are not serving them spiritually. This is a beautiful process of discerning the presence of the sacred in their lives, celebrating the luminous and facilitating a process of self discovery and purpose through their idea of the spiritual.
